About Starr Piano Company
The Starr Piano Company in Richmond, Indiana, built high quality pianos from 1893-1950’s. During this period they won many awards at international expositions. In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s imported rosewood and mahogany were the preferred woods to convey the richness of the piano. Starr pianos were featured in many films in the early to mid 20th Century, including Shirley Temple movies. Antique pianos are surprisingly inexpensive, costing several times less than new pianos today.
