About Loren Fry
Loren Fry was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1924, and began painting ranch life on the High Plains. From a young age Loren had a passion for painting, and followed his dream to attend the Chicago School of Art. After graduation, Loren enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served our nation during WWII. In the mid-1960s he painted a series of covers for The Quarter Horse Journal and in the 1970s he began taking western vacation trips, serving as “house artist” at the Fear Ranch in Green River Valley, Wyoming. It didn’t take long for Loren to realize that painting was his true calling, so he sold his advertising agency and devoted himself to his art. Loren would travel to the back country of Wyoming and Montana for weeks at a time to live the ranch life, and paint his experience for the millions of people that could not appreciate such a life first-hand.
