Heather chose this James I sterling silver snuff box. “This rare snuffbox is a beautiful example of the decorative boxes meant to hold snuff; a scented and powdered form of tobacco. Very common in 17th century England, they were in high demand as valuable gifts. The smaller boxes were for individual use and usually fit in a waistcoat pocket or worn as jewelry. The larger ones, such as this piece, were communal boxes meant for table use. This museum quality snuffbox is a wonderful piece of history.”
