Description
Antique French bird box automaton, circa 19th Century. This nineteenth century automaton bird box features a charming pop-up bird that moves his beak while he sings his tune turning side to side and flapping his wings, then lays back inside. The cover features putti or cherubs in brass. Note curved crack through area of screw on the side of the box, shown in pictures. This bird box comes with the original faux leather case that has velvet and silk interior, showing some wear. The bird box automaton also features the original bird shaped key that has a fitted place within the lid of the outer case.
