Monumental Three Train Fusee Bracket Clock by Hamilton

We are excited to present a rare and complicated musical English bracket clock of monumental proportions.

This month we are featuring a clock that we believe to be a one of a kind masterpiece of Victorian opulence, custom built for a Maharaja's Palace in Calcutta by the Hamilton clockmakers in London. In our 30 years of specializing in fine antique clocks we have never encountered a bracket clock of this scale. The ebonized case is profusely inlaid with brass and adorned with huge gilt bronze ormolu. It is 32” wide x 54” high, with a complimentary stand 40” wide x 30” high.

The beautifully hand engraved and silvered dial presents eleven functions, comprised of minutes, hours, seconds, day, date, month, phases of the moon, position of the sun, selection of 4 bell, 8 bell or 12 bell quarter hour chimes and power reserve indicators for all three chain fusee driven gear trains.

The clock movement is larger than many tower clocks, built to the standards of the best Victorian clockmakers with a huge nest of bells and a cathedral like coiled gong for the hour strike.

Should this not be enough showmanship to overwhelm the Shah’s guests, Hamilton fitted a 13” cylinder music box in the base, playing 1 of 8 tunes automatically after the completion of the hour strike.

It is difficult to imagine the princely sum this clock commanded in its day, but it is safe to assume that it was many times the current cost in equivalent earning power. Likewise, the intrinsic value, or replacement cost of such a clock today would dwarf its remarkably reasonable price of $98,000.

Only one collector in the world will have the privilege of owning this clock and benefiting from the doubly rewarding pleasure of ownership and the inevitable strength of appreciation in value with each passing year.

If you could be that one fortunate candidate to acquire this important horological treasure call Ron Palladino at 805-688-6222 to learn more about this unique opportunity.
