Annular Dial Clock, c. 1880
|
French
annular dial column clock in gilt and patinated bronze on Carrera
marble fluted column. 23” high, c. 1880.
This elegant example of an annular or rotary dial clock is one of
the most attractive we have seen. There were very few of these clocks
produced and they seldom come to market. The two porcelain ring-shaped
dials rotate to indicate the minutes and hours at the serpent’s
tongue.
The 8 day, two train, bell striking balance wheel movement lies
horizontally in the urn and winds from the top by lifting the cherub.
The marble is in excellent condition, as is the gilding and patinated
bronze.
Dimensions: 8”W x 8”D x 23”H
